Slight drop in attendance at Central Wa. State Fair this year
YAKIMA, Wash.-- Attendance was down at this year's Central Washington State Fair, but they still managed to pull in over 300,000 people.
Attractions this year included an interactive rock history exhibit, a giant petting zoo with over 150 animals, and "Walk on the Wild Side" which featured more exotic animals. Before fair events had started, General Manager Greg Stewart was optimistic about attendance this year.
"…Right now the weather looks great, getting a lot of ticket sales for our shows. People like the entertainment we're featuring," Stewart told us.
Stewart says the lower numbers are due to bad weather at the start of the fair.
Last year, about 10,000 more people attended the fair. However this year's numbers still beat those from 2009, which came in below 300,000. Stewart says they're already making plans for next year's fair.
