City council candidates court downtown businesses

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK,WA Business owners in downtown Kennewick want to know what the city council candidates would do for them.

The business owners got an idea Friday at a candidates forum.  Executive Director of the Historic Downtown Kennewick Partnership Timothy Dalton says business owners want their votes to go to the candidates with a vision for the future.

"From economic development to policy making," Dalton says. "he money downtown (business owners) has invested, the previous and current city council has invested and even the Port of Kennewick. How are they going to work together to create a really more viable, strong downtown."

The candidates have different priorities for downtown Kennewick, including attracting more customers, providing more parking, and working with business owners to continue the redevelopment.

The business owners, and other voters, will decide next month who fills three city council positions.
