KENNEWICK, WA -- The high school girls Tri-City swimming championships took place today at Kenneth Serier Memorial Pool. Over a half dozen local schools competed in twelve events, including both swimming and diving events. It is the biggest duel meet of the season for the girls right before district and state championships, that begin later this month and into early November. Coaches say the meet serves as a showcase for the swimmers and divers, and as an opportunity to see which swimmers and divers are ready for the end of the season.

"The best swimmers and divers in all of Tri-Cities who come out. The meet is very much a showcase meet so we can showcase the talent that we have in this town. Our girls work so hard they work 3-4 hours a day sometimes. So as far as this meet and it's importance it's a good gauge of where we're at," said Southridge swimming coach Jason Hart.
