RICHLAND, Wash.-- Couple arrested for marijuana possession. Richland Police have arrested two people after they found 9.5 pounds of pot in their home. Police were called out by neighbors who reported smelling marijuana along the 900 block of Davenport in Richland.
Jerry Richwine, 48, and Sandra Knight, 43, were arrested for possession of marijuana and other drug charges. Richwine has a medical marijuana card but was not allowed to have more pot than the legal limit.
Sgt. Mike Harrison says "the card creates a defense for you if you were to be criminally charged and you went to court. You would have to explain that you have met all the conditions that the law requires. But it's not simply a have-marijuana-free card."
Police say Richwine was supplying some of the marijuana to his wife who does not have a medical condition to use the drug. Police also found hydrocodone pills at the home.
The Department of Health only allows a person to have 24 ounces of medical marijuana and 15 plants. Their website has more information about medical marijuana growth, and how much can be grown.
