PASCO, Wa.- The Pasco School Board unanimously passed the multi-track recommendation at Tuesday nights meeting. The proposal will move 6th graders down to elementary school level. Only elementary schools will be on the multi-track system. There are four tracks per year, meaning schools are open year round and students have different off times. The new system replaces the standard "summer off" school year. Schools will be phased into the new system and the district will start with the most overcrowded schools first. The earliest the multi-track system will start would be the 2013-14 school year.
The purpose of the multi-track system is to alleviate crowded classrooms, but at the same time allow the Pasco school system to grow.
