Two arrested after burglary attempt

KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Two arrested after burglary attempt. Kennewick Police arrested two people attempting to steal scrap metal around 6:30 a.m. on Saturday. It happened at the metal yard at 416 Kingwood Street in Kennewick.

Police say they arrested 57-year old Curtis Copstead of West Richland and 48-year old Kendall Nida of Benton County. Police say a worker noticed the two stealing metal and called police.

Kennewick Police Officer Tony Valdez says "when officers responded to the scene their truck broke down and they were pushing it. And so we were able to catch them."Police picked them up on Columbia Drive after their car broke down.

They were booked for attempted theft and trespassing. They were also charged with outstanding warrants.
