KENNEWICK, Wash.--Football players wear pink for awareness. The Kennewick Grid Kids football league is having a 'Pink Week.' Several different teams were seen wearing pink on parts of their jerseys and helmets.
One team was completely decked out. Some youth football players on the team called the Tigers are wearing pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. They got brand new gear just for this event.
The pink jerseys are worn in memory of one of their teammate's mom who died of cancer last year. Football player Mikie Jones says "well when I was in sixth grade my mom passed away of breast cancer. It's been hard and representing her has been my whole life."
Teammate Justin Larsen says "it feels pretty good just to have the whole team just wearing pink."They got the idea from seeing some NFL players also sporting pink for breast cancer.
