PASCO, Wash.-- Wells Fargo phone call scam. On Saturday morning a viewer called in and told us she received A phone call from someone who claimed to work with Wells Fargo.
The caller said her debit card had been deactivated and she needed to reactivate it by giving her bank information. The woman knew it was a scam and hung up.
Deputies and police say bank employees would not call to confirm account information they already have.
Corp. Gordon Thomasson says "if your bank is asking for that information, they've already got it. So they're not going to want your personal information."
Deputies say to never give out any of your bank information. If you receive a phone call like this, report it to police and your bank.
