Details in Yakima kidnapping case have police baffled

YAKIMA, Wash.-- More information on the kidnapping of a 37-year-old Yakima woman, abducted by 3 people, including 2 women that she knew.

The details of this case are both disturbing and shocking, even YPD Lt. Mike Merryman was a little baffled by the motive.

"The incident started, oddly enough, over a dispute of a taser," said Lt. Mike Merryman.

That taser had apparently been stolen from the suspects by the victim.
The 37-year-old was then taken from her home at the Sunshine Motel early Thursday morning, then let go 13 hours later.

She was stabbed, beaten, sexually assaulted, and even had her hair cut by the suspects. She even spent part of that time inside the trunk of a car.

"Just an odd case, so we're glad to have the victim back in hand and on the way to recovery because it certainly could have gone, this could have gone even worse really quickly," said Lt. Merryman.

Kristable Williams, 24, and Debra Lewis, 26, appeared in a Yakima courtroom today on kidnapping charges. Bail set at $200,000 a piece.
Lawrence Acevedo, 24, has also been arrested.
Merryman says kidnappings are pretty uncommon in Yakima, but this one was particularly strange.

The 37-year-old victim is still recovering from her injuries, but is expected to survive.
