Hundreds of vets to show up for Walla Walla stand down

Posted: Updated:

WALLA WALLA, WA- Hundreds of veterans, many of them considered homeless, are expected to show up at Wednesday's stand down.

The event will be similar to the stand down last August in the Tri-Cities, where veterans received help about benefits available to them.

The Blue Mountain Veterans Coalition will provide free eye and dental exams, haircuts and showers, job assistance, and counseling for post traumatic stress syndrome.

The stand down, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., will be held at the National Guard Armory  at 113 S. Colville in Walla Walla.
