Downtown Kennewick merchant moves out, and moves in

KENNEWICK, WA- After only one year in downtown Kennewick, a shopkeeper has moved--across the street.

Jenna Boogerd opened Swanky Babies last October in a 900 square foot space on Kennewick Avenue. Business has been so good, Boogerd has moved her upscale children's clothing store and boutique into a larger 2500 square foot building across the street.

Boogerd says her move is proof that businesses can thrive downtown.

"I said a year ago I believed in downtown, and when I needed to move I looked all around," Boogerd says. "But I still wanted to stay here and found a spot a hop, skip, and a jump away."

Taking over Boogerd's former space is a friend of hers, Stacy Harbour, who has opened an upscale toy store that features items not typically found in bigger toy stores.
