YPD offers landlords intensive anti-crime training
YAKIMA, Wash- Some landlords are part of the fight crime against crime in Yakima. Tuesday night they began an intensive workshop series to learn how to keep violence out of the places you live. The Yakima Police Department is hosting a 12 hour training on issues like tenant screening, warning signs of drug and gang activity, block watch and eviction laws.
They're also bringing in an attorney to talk about landlord rights on everything from evictions to medical marijuana.
YPD is also addressing some of the political aspects of the fight against crime, and gangs in particular. Representative Charles Ross came to hear what landlords want from lawmakers.
"How can we write laws that make the landlord an equation in creating that safe community", asks Ross,
The state attorney general also spoke Tuesday night. The series continues Thursday, October 27 and then Tuesday, November 1 and Thursday, November 3 at the Harman Center in Yakima.
