16th and Washington construction finished tomorrow
YAKIMA, Wash.-- Workers will finally finish construction on the intersection of 16th and Washington in Yakima tomorrow.
They blocked the lanes off today to raise utilities to street level. They're widening the intersection to deal with increased traffic in recent years. They also installed new stoplights that should be more effective. The city says the project has definitely had difficulties.
"This one seemed to have drug out a little longer than it should have just because of all the poles... Didn't arrive when they were supposed to, but yes, this is a good project to finally get done," says Yakima Construction Supervisor Bruce Floyd.
The construction was supposed to have ended in the first few weeks of October, but a delay in the delivery of stoplight poles held construction up.
