KENNEWICK, Wash., -- The popular movie rental kiosks known as Redbox, begin a price hike on DVD rentals today.
The one dollar-a-day price for one DVD will increase to $1.20-a-day.
The hike comes just a few weeks after rival rental service, Netflix, reported record losses in subscribers due to a 60 percent price increase.
"Paying an extra 20 cents isn't that big of a deal," says Redbox Customer Garrett Bowe.
"I don't think 20 cents makes a big enough difference," says Redbox Customer Lynn Owens. "I'm still happy to pay 20 more cents."
As of August, more than 68 percent of the U.S. population lives within 5 minutes of a Redbox.
