UNION GAP, Wash.-- A construction project wrapped up in Union Gap Monday.
Department of Transportation crews, and local and state officials celebrated the completion of the Interstate 82 Valley Mall Boulevard Interchange Improvement Project. The new interchange includes some new round-a-bouts, bridges, and roadwork.
The mayor of Union Gap says the finished project will bring a lot to businesses in the area.
"It'll be nice to know that all of our businesses will be seeing the business they were once seeing and then have the flow of traffic needed, have the traffic flow a lot better," said Mayor Jim Lemon.
Several state lawmakers and even the state's Transportation Secretary attended Monday's event. The DOT says this project was a huge success and finished on time and on budget.
