Starting to look like winter in local mountains

WHITE PASS, Wash.-- The first big snow of the season hit White Pass Friday night.

The National Weather Service is predicting up to a foot of snow this weekend for White Pass and even more snow to come in the next week.

A spokesperson for White Pass says they expect to have a great season with fresh and consistent powder.

"Consistent snow falling daily after that, with anything from 2-5 feet throughout the next week. It's a La Nina year and La Nina is always very very good for us and the South Cascades," said Kathleen Goyette, spokesperson for White Pass.

They still have not officially named an opening date, but if snowfall continues you can expect to be on the mountain very soon.
