YAKIMA, Wash.-- The proposed Regional Fire Authority is halfway through their financial feasibility study. The RFA would be made up of Yakima City Fire, Union Gap, and two other fire districts.
It would be its own separate taxing entity and would not use city funds.
Yakima Fire Chief Dave Willson says things are ahead of schedule.
"We have it broken down into 5 phases. The financial portion is the largest phase and that's phase 3. That should actually be completed about the end of December," said Yakima Fire Chief Dave Willson.
Emergency Services Consulting International is conducting the study.
Willson says they've done other studies in Yakima and have worked with other Regional Fire Authorities.
