Kennewick, Wash. - A forest full of lights filled the Three Rivers Convention Center Thursday night. It was all part of the 6th annual Festival of Trees Gala.
The fund raising event featured 11 christmas trees, all elaborately decorated by local non-profit organizations. The trees were auctioned off, and will be delivered to the homes of their new owners on Friday.
"This is our 6th annual. It's been a great partnership with the Three Rivers Convention Center. This is the culmination of a week full of events, and it's turned into a really neat way to kick off the holiday season," said Melanie Norris, this year's Festival of Trees event coordinator.
The proceeds from the event will benefit several non-profit groups, including the United Way, My Friend's Place shelter, and Young Life of Richland, Kennewick, and Pasco.
