Church group gets stuck while looking for Christmas tree
YAKIMA, Wash.-- It was a cold night on Chinook Pass for some people who got stuck in the snow near Raven's Roost Sunday.
The Yakima County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Snowmobile Team rescued a group of 7 at 2am Monday morning.
Two adults and five children from a Yakima church group slid off the road and got stuck in deep snow while looking for a Christmas tree Sunday.
The Search and Rescue Sergeant says if you're planning on looking for a tree to be smart about it.
"When you head out up into the mountains you just got to be mindful of where you're going. Don't go beyond what you're not familiar with or what you can't handle," said Sgt. George Town with the Yakima County Sheriff's Office.
Five Search and Rescue members went out on three snowmobiles.
The group's truck was still stuck in the snow early Monday morning.
