Christmas tree owner has long history in the business
RICHLAND, Wash.—We're just two weeks away from Christmas which means Christmas trees are in high demand. One lot owner says his organization comes with a long history.
Doug and Jordan Duvon own Tannenbaum Christmas Trees in Richland now, but their family has been in the business for four generations.
"After my grandmother found out that I was selling Christmas trees she told me that ya know your grandfather, and I did that too and I said oh really elaborate," says Doug Duvon, Jordan's father and owner of Tannenbaum Christmas Trees.
Doug Duvon started selling back in 1996, but his grandparents started during World War II.
"They would go to Montana and cut wild trees out of the forest and wrap them in wire and ship several box car loads to Chicago," says Doug Duvon.
"They sold their first tree and Macy's first tree in Chicago and it was 40 feet tall," says Jordan Duvon, Tannenbaum Christmas Trees.
Jordan has now taken over the reigns from his father. He's been around the business since he was 5-years-old.
"It was merely by coincidence. I had no idea that my grandparents were doing this. I was just kind of surprised when I found out," says Doug Duvon.
If you're still looking for your tree, Tannenbaum Christmas Trees is located at the corner of Keene and Queensgate in Richland.
