Burglary suspect arrested after attempt to fool police

YAKIMA, Wash.-- Yakima Police looking for a person who they believe made a fake call in an attempt to get their attention off a search warrant.

It all started with a burglary Sunday when two trucks were stolen from A1 Pools and Patio Supply on the 400 block of N. 20th Avenue.
The store owner found one truck nearby, then called police.

Officers quickly surrounded a home just a few blocks from the store.

They were waiting to go in with a search warrant when dispatch got a call about a woman being pulled from a car at gunpoint.

Police say that call was a fake.

"We found on the telephone on the suspects person, text messages trying to talk someone into making that phone call for him so he could flee," said Lt. Mike Merryman with Yakima Police.

Police didn't take the bait, they sent a few squad cars to check out the call but kept the majority at the home.

They arrested two suspects and recovered about $10,000 worth of property.
