KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Busiest day for FedEx shipping. FedEx says Monday December 12th will be their biggest holiday shipping day ever. They predict they'll ship more than 17 million packages. That is twice their average mail volume.
FedEx says the shipping numbers are high because nearly $24 billion has been spent so far for online holiday shopping.
Customer Kendra Morgan says she had no idea FedEx was predicting to send so many packages. She says "that's a lot of packages being sent but obviously there's a lot of lucky people out there that are receiving gifts from everybody so that's nice."
Experts say the high numbers are a good sign the economy is turning around. FedEx increased their hires by 18% this year to help manage the holiday season.
FedEx shipping deadlines before Christmas begin next week.
