Klay Thompson Signs Contract, Impresses at Practice

Back on April 18 Klay Thompson crushed the heart of Cougar nation by declaring for the NBA draft. Fast forward eight months later, and after an NBA labor dispute and negotiations on his rookie contract he can finally – and officially – say he is a Golden State Warrior.

Thompson finally got to participate in his first practice on Tuesday after he signed his contract. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the Contra Costa (Calif.) Times said the four-year deal was worth $10.4 million with only the first two years guaranteed.

The Warriors had been holding off on signing Thompson so they could maximize an offer sheet to restricted free agent Deandre Jordan. Unfortunately for Golden State, the Clippers matched the offer to keep him in Los Angeles with a $43 million deal.

As for how Thompson did in practice on Tuesday – the fifth day of training camp, the San Francisco Chronicle quoted head coach Mark Jackson as saying he is "ready to play today" and that he "will play right away".
