1 passenger dead in Sunnyside car wreck; driver leaves the scene

SUNNYSIDE, Wash.-- A Sunnyside man is dead Sunday after being ejected from a rolling car.

Nicolas Alfredo Marez, 20, was one of 6 passengers riding in the car at around 3:30am on the 3600 block of E. Factory Road in Sunnyside.

According to Washington State Patrol the car drifted off the road, the driver over-corrected causing the car roll, ejecting Marez.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene. His name and whereabouts are unknown at this time.

The five other passengers, ranging from age 14-21 were all transported to hospitals. 21-year-old Ivan Chiprez was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

WSP says speed was the cause of the crash and charges are still pending at this time.
