KENNEWICK, Wash.--The Tri-Cities population is growing rapidly. Plans are already being created to add more housing. There will be expansions in just about every city.
The company ProximityOne estimates Tri-City's growth rate to be more than 35.7% in 19 years, which means the population will be doubled soon after.
There are plans for construction in the Horn Rapids area in North Richland. There's new housing construction out by Southridge in Kennewick, West Pasco along Road 100 and plans to build by the Badger Mountain South Area.
Experts say the Tri-Cities will become the fastest growing metropolitan area by 2020. Pasco has had the highest growth rate in the area since 2000 with more than 500 new homes a year.
Builders plan to grow at the rate of demand, which right now is about 1,500 to 2,000 homes a year.
