Former first lady to speak at Town Hall Speaker Series
YAKIMA, Wash.-- The Yakima Town Hall Speaker Series lineup for the next season has been released.
It's their 40th anniversary and they're bringing in another group of big names, including one that everybody's sure to know.
One of the most popular first ladies in history and will be right here in Yakima talking about her experiences in the White House.
Laura Bush, wife of Former President George W. Bush is scheduled to speak as part of the 2012-2013 season of the Yakima Town Hall Speaker series. She's scheduled to be in town October 3rd.
Organizers with Yakima Town Hall say they're thrilled to have the first lady, but there are some challenges to hosting a speaker like Mrs. Bush.
"It's really exciting for us to have her. It's an experience in a different type of speaker to have her come here because, of course there's the Secret Service and all the security things," said Debby Douglas with Yakima Town Hall.
Other speakers on the schedule are: Wes Moore, David Lampton, and Robert Ballard renowned explorer who actually found the Titanic at the bottom of the ocean. He'll be in Yakima on April 17th of next year.
Douglas says tickets are not on sale yet for the upcoming series, but dates they will be for sale will be announced at one of the last two talks coming up.
