YAKIMA, Wash.-- Events are happening all over our area to celebrate Martin Luther King Day.

In Yakima, the Martin Luther King Junior Peace March will take place today. It's the 27th year the city has hosted the parade.

It will start this morning at 11 on North Fifth Avenue and come down Martin Luther King Boulevard, ending at the Yakima Convention Center. There the marchers will hold a celebration with awards, entertainment, and four keynote speakers: YWCA Director Erin Black, Yakima School District Superintendent Elaine Beraza, Reverend Robert Trimble, and Tony Allen, an Assistant Principal in two Yakima schools.

In the Tri Cities, the 21st Annual Martin Luther King Junior Bell Ringing Ceremony happens at noon. The event is on the Columbia Basin College's Pasco campus near the Martin Luther King statue.

After the ceremony they'll announce the winner of their annual Spirit Award.
