Weather Forces Several Schools to Cancel Friday Night Games
SWX was planning to air the Central Valley-Ferris game in Spokane, and the Prosser-East Valley game in Tri-Cities, but weather forced the cancellation of both games (Photo: SWX)
On Thursday Mead canceled its wrestling match at Central Valley, and the snow continued to fall. On Friday morning, both Spokane Dist. 81 and the Mead School District canceled classes, so it was only a matter of time before the schools announced the cancellation of Friday night's sporting events.
Wintery weather, including the threat of freezing rain, forced the Greater Spokane League to cancel all of its games on Friday around noon. Among the games canceled was the matchup between first place Central Valley and Ferris, which was scheduled to air on SWX. All the games canceled will be made up at some point during the season, but administrators weren't prepared to name a date just yet.
Some schools in the outlying areas around Spokane also canceled games on Friday, including LaCrosse-Washtucna, Garfield-Palouse and others.
