Bad weather may be causing bad business

Posted: Updated:
KENNEWICK, Wash. -

Bad weather may be causing bad business. On Saturday we saw temperatures in the high 40's and now much of the snow and ice are melting. It's good news for drivers and possibly good news for the fast food business.

Over the last few days parking lots have been almost empty because lots of people decided to stay home and avoid the snow. Even popular fast food restaurants had a plunge in sales. Some stores we spoke with lost almost 25% of business over the last few days compared with last year. We're told the icy roads and freezing temperatures played a huge factor in slow sales.

Some business owners say this weather has been the worst for business in years. Carl's Jr. Manager Robin Weldon says "I've never seen it this slow. I guess because of the ice and everything, it's just people not showing up. Our dinner sales are down, our lunch sales are down."

Now restaurants like Carl's Junior in Kennewick is trying to make up for sales by offering discounts to customers this Sunday to bring customers back into their store.
