FINLEY, Wash. -

A house is destroyed from a fire in Finley. A Finley man is without a home Sunday night after his house was destroyed by a fire. Benton County firefighters say they responded to a house fire on East Perkins Road at 2:20 Sunday morning.

The homeowner was inside but made it out safely. The 17,000 square foot house was completely destroyed. It took firefighters several hours to put out the flames.

Dist. #1 Deputy Chief Mike Harris says "the original home had several add-ons with a porch and then an additional bedroom to the back which creates some hidden spaces. So when the fire travels through the hidden spaces it takes extra time for our crews to cut into those spaces."

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Benton County firefighters will be at the site on Monday to determine how the fire started.
