Tips on protecting your cell phone from winter conditions

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, Wash.-- Cell phone companies say you need to protect your cell phone during the winter months.

They say keep your phone in a warm place and protect your phone's screen.

Temperatures below 40 degrees can harm the phone's battery life and make the display brittle. You should also always have it in a case.

"You definitely want to take care of that phone... Some companies don't have something where you can back up your contacts and things like that... So you definitely wanna take care of your phone," says Mario Rodriguez with U.S. Cellular in Yakima.

Rodriguez also says to make sure the phone stays as dry as possible because too much moisture can also cause damage.
