KENNEWICK, Wash. -- The Washington Oregon Potato Conference is back in town. Hundreds of growers attended the 3-day conference at the Three Rivers Convention Center Tuesday afternoon.

The event has been going on for 50 years. This is the fourth year they are holding it in the Tri-Cities.

The conference is for growers in the Columbia Basin to discuss any major issues before next season.

Dale Lathim, Chair of the Washington Oregon Potato Conference, said, "one of the hottest topics this year is control of silids which causes zebra chip disease. That was last year was the first year we had seen that here in the Columbia Basin. There are other parts of the world where it's a major major issue."

Leaders expect to see about 1,500 people attend. Lathim says the event has grown so much, not every vendor who wanted to attend got a spot.
