Investigation into missing funds from Franklin County Works Dept.

PASCO, Wash -- Franklin County Commissioner Brad Peck just wrapped up a news conference along with Prosecutor Sean Sant and Auditor Matt Beaton. They say an investigation into missing funds from the County Public Works Department started this morning. It also involves the Office of the State Attorney General and State Auditor. Peck says nine Franklin County employees are on paid administrative leave, although not all of them are with the Public Works Department. He would not say how much money is missing, the exact amount is part of the investigation. The issue was discovered during and internal audit done two weeks ago.

Pasco police are also involved in the investigation. they are executing search warrants today (Thursday) at the Public Works building and a home in Pasco. Dennis M. Huston, 64-years-old, from Pasco, has been booked into the Franklin County Corrections Center. He is being held for 1st degree theft, money laundering and possession of controlled substances.
