PASCO, Wash.-- -

Free check-ups offered at Children's Community Dental Day. Children without dental insurance were able to get free dental check-ups in Pasco on Saturday. It's part of the area's Children's Community Dental Day put on by the Benton and Franklin Community Health Alliance.

Volunteers saw around 150 patients up to 14 years old. Dentists say the most common problem for kids is cavities. Staff reminded parents on how to help children take care of their teeth, and said not to eat too much sugar.

Advanced Pediatric Dentistry Dr. Navid Newport says his staff enjoy putting on the event every year. "We're very happy to provide this service. Parents are happy because they're getting desperately needed service that most people come in and are so grateful," said Newport.

One of the patients, Kristen Crone says she had a great time getting her teeth checked. She told us one of her favorite parts was getting to meet the Tooth Fairy. "They have the awesomeist tooth fairy every and you can look at her," said Crone.

Around $50,000 was donated to help pay for services on Saturday.
