YAKIMA, Wash. -- The Yakima City Council voted 5-2 Tuesday night to not go with a new car tab fee.
The council held a hearing on the Transportation Benefit District during their council meeting. It's a five-year plan to repair many of the main roads around Yakima.
Council members Maureen Adkison and Kathy Coffey were the only ones to vote for keeping the new fee as an option.
Randy Beehler, spokesperson for the City of Yakima, says the council also voted 4-3 to move ahead in looking at forming a Transportation Benefit District.
It's unclear whether the council will take this issue for a public vote. The council has talked about forming a study session to discuss the Transportation Benefit District.
