Yakima Fire in need of reserve members

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, Wash.-- The Yakima Fire Department is in need of some reserve crews.

Reservists are non combat, support service members.

During big fires they go on scene with firefighters and provide support, like keeping air bottles full, providing water to crews, and checking vitals of firefighters.

Captain Brandon Dorenbush says it's an important role that helps firefighters work better and more effectively.

"Reserves are very important to us because when they respond to large incidents, it's vital that they provide much needed services for the firefighters for their safety and well being on that incident," said Capt. Dorenbush.

Dorenbush says they're looking for about a dozen reserve members.

You have to be 18 years or older with a valid drivers license to apply.
