Baker says skip the flowers and go with chocolate

Posted: Updated:

A lot of people think of jewelry and flowers on Valentine's Day. But one baker in Kennewick says it's all about the chocolate.

Francisco Mejia says Valentine's Day is his busiest day of the year.

He gets to work at 3:30 in the morning to make heart shaped doughnuts, cookies, and chocolate covered strawberries.

He says he goes through about 30 pounds of chocolate every Valentines Day.

"Everybody loves chocolate. Everybody loves sweets. So you can't go wrong with that. You bring flowers and they're not in the mood for that color or whatever, but you bring chocolate and you get sparks on the eye," says Bakery Owner Francisco Mejia

Francisco's Bakery is near Albertsons at the corner of Clearwater and Fillmore Street in Kennewick. Its open from 5 a.m. - 9 p.m.
