Well-known author visits a Kennewick Elementary School
KENNEWICK, Wash. -- A well-known author makes a special visit to a local elementary school for a reading workshop. Kelly Halls visited students today at Cascade Elementary School in Kennewick.
The school selects a visitor to come in every year and talk about the importance of reading and new ways students can be motivated to dive into books. This year's author talked about the importance of non-fiction books that make kids interested in reading.
Halls said, "I can't tell you the number of paleontologists, dinosaur scientists that I know that got their affection for dinosaurs by being excited about Godzilla. It's often a gateway to more research and more education."
Afterwards students had a chance to write some of their own story ideas.
