North Star Lodge raises money for cancer patients with radiothon
YAKIMA, Wash.-- North Star Lodge and the Yakima Radio Group hosted a Radiothon to benefit cancer patients Thursday.
Local radio DJs promoted the event through the day and talked with cancer survivors. Donations will go to memorial's Cancer Care Fund, which offsets some of the costs of treatment like transportation and food. North Star says nearly 500 people a year end up using this fund.
"We just try to surround ourselves around that family and that patient to make sure they can focus on their treatment and getting well," says Julie Toney of North Star Lodge.
You can still donate up until six PM by calling (509) 574-3434. You can also go to the lodge at 808 North 39th Avenue, or donate on the North Star website here.
