Mardi Gras celebration helps fund local Catholic school
YAKIMA, Wash.-- Mardi Gras isn't until Tuesday, but St. Paul School in Yakima is already celebrating.
The school is putting on a fundraiser and has already raised over $30,000.
All of the money goes to improve the quality of education for students at St. Paul.
Organizers say it's the 28th year of the event and they're hoping to bring in more money than any other year.
"They go to all of our operations. Any improvements to the school, books for the kids. And our school is almost a hundred years old so we have a lot of needs," said Amy McKinney, co-chair of the event.
McKinney says they'll raise more money through their live silent auction too.
The party is already sold out though, so if you don't have your tickets, you'll have to wait until next year.
