Little kids drop off big check

Posted: Updated:

Little kids brought in a big check to Kadlec Regional Medical Center's pediatric unit Monday.

The money came from a coin drive at Cottonwood and Ridgeview Elementary schools in Kennewick.

The drive raised over $4,000.

Miss Washington's Outstanding Teen Nicole Renard organized the event.

The children were given a tour, so they could see where the money's going.

"They try to make them feel at home so they feel more safe," says Ridgeview's Diego Stephens.

"They give them all these nice toys I think they really enjoy, and they give them a nice place to stay while they're sick," says Cottonwood's Maci Meads.

"I think they do it to make kids feel not scared to be at a hospital," says Ridgeview's Grace Le.

Leaders at Kadlec say they are very grateful for the donation and to the Columbia Center Branch of Banner Bank for counting all those coins!
