A wanted couple is under arrest after a police chase Sunday
WALLA WALLA, Wash.-- -
A wanted couple is under arrest after a police chase Sunday that ended with three people in the hospital.
These were the same fugitives that were spotted Friday on the run. Walla Walla police say 31-year-old Vernon Ray Johnson was wanted in our area. He's suspected of stealing more than 4 Hondas in just the last few weeks.
Police caught up with him and 22-year-old Miranda York yesterday in a police pursuit. The chase ended at the intersection of Howard and Bryant in Walla Walla when officers say Johnson was driving a stolen car and collided with a pickup truck. Police say the two were wanted in Washington Oregon and Idaho. They were considered dangerous.
Officer Tim Bennett says "Vernon Ray Johnson has an extensive criminal history in the Walla Walla Valley from dug related charges to vehicular pursuits. He's very well known to law enforcement throughout this area."
The driver of the truck that was hit, 62-year-old Jeffrey Callow was sent to Saint Mary's Medical Center. Paramedics took Johnson to Harborview in Seattle with severe head injuries. York was released from the hospital and booked into Walla Walla County Jail for outstanding warrants and meth possession charges. Detectives are also investigating additional charges for her.
We're told Johnson is still in serious condition at Harborview Medical Center.
