Walla Walla police have just finished moving into their new building. It's new location is at 54 East Moore Street. Tuesday will be the first day that more than 60 staffers will start working in the new 2,900 square foot facility.
It cost 11.6 million dollars to build. The bond for the new building was passed by voters in 2008. The new building will make police work much more efficient.
Officer Tim Bennett says "it's been needed for 30 years. They started doing studies back in the 70s and the need was great back then and we've been growing since that time."
The old police station was more than 100 years old and had no interview rooms for officers. On March 9th, the station is hosting a ribbon cutting at their new facility.
