Murder case pushed back while psychologists evaluate suspect

Posted: Updated:

A man accused of killing his grandmother last month may spend the next three months in a state psychiatric hospital.

Documents show Adam Williams of West Richland believed God directed him to kill 87 year old Viola Williams.

He was not in court Tuesday, but his lawyer told a Benton County judge he expects psychologists to recommend a 90-day commitment.

The report was not done in time for the status hearing so there is no official recommendation yet.

The case will be back in court in two weeks.
