ELLENSBURG, Wash.-- Obesity is a growing problem especially among children. experts say that about 12.5 million kids are obese in the U.S.
Students at Central Washington University want to do something about it.
So they held a health and fitness fair on Saturday. Zumba classes, a bounce house, and information booths were set up to inform parents and kids about the issue and what they can do to prevent it from happening to their own friends and family.
"It's a national epidemic and we're doing this to bring awareness throughout the community and hopefully make a long term affect on that," said Jordan Pederson, one of the student organizers.
The fair is also part of a national, public relations competition that gives students the opportunity to apply their classroom experiences in a real world setting.
