YAKIMA, Wash.-- A busy weekend for the Yakima SunDome as they see big growth from last year.
Two, big name shows brought in thousands of people to the venue Saturday night and Sunday.
And it's not just ticket sales that have been booming but also a big increase in the amount of shows coming through Yakima.
Two weekends ago they saw the Professional Bull Riders tour come through, selling 4,000 tickets. Another 5,000 sold just a few weeks earlier for the WWE event.
And this weekend, between George Lopez and the Harlem Globetrotters, they'll sell almost 7,000 tickets.
The State Fair Park's Assistant General Manager says they've seen a lot of growth this season, especially from people from out of town coming in for events, not only bringing money to the SunDome, but to the Yakima economy as well.
"Half our attendance probably comes from 50 miles outside of Yakima. And as I showed you the list, they come from out of state, they come from Canada, depending on what even it is," said Greg Lybeck, assistant general manager.
In fact, Lybeck says for a recent concert they saw folks flying in from Indiana and even Australia just to check out the band.
He says they have a lot more shows coming up in the next few months and have plenty of tickets left for all of them.
