Pasco, Wash. - The debate over impact fees continues for the Pasco City Council. The City Council spent more than an hour talking about the proposed fees at their workshop meeting Monday night.
The fees would be required when new homes are built in the city. The school district has told the city they need the fees to pay some of the costs associated with the new students those homes will bring. School administrators say they've tried to work with all parties involved to make the fees as fair as possible.
"We appreciate all the conversations we've had with the developers and realtors. We've really tried on our end. We've really massaged this and worked with it. We've had our citizens committee work on it, and I think we're going to get an answer in the near future," said John Morgan with the Pasco School District.
Pasco's City Council is expected to consider an ordinance on the proposed impact fees at their next meeting on March 5th.
