YPD respond to domestic disturbance on N. 16th Ave
YAKIMA, Wash. -- A man is in custody after police responded to a domestic dispute call Tuesday afternoon.
It happened around 4 p.m. on the 200 block of North 16th Avenue. Traffic was briefly closed off at the intersections of Summitview and Lincoln Avenues.
"A neighbor reported hearing some shots fired. When officers arrived they contacted a female," Interim Police Chief Greg Copeland said. "The female advised the officers of a domestic situation between her and a male."
Copeland tells KNDO during the altercation between the male and female there were shots fired.
"The officer did see some bullet holes in the back of the garage of the home," Copeland explained.
Police are investigating what led up to the shooting.
