YAKIMA, Wash. -- Crews with the city streets and traffic division Tuesday have re-striped the lanes at the intersections of Summitview and 7th Avenues.
The new two-lane configuration will include one left-turn only lane onto Yakima Ave. instead of two. Drivers in the second lane will be able to turn left onto Yakima Ave. or go straight, crossing Yakima Ave. on to 7th Avenue.
Street and Traffic Manager Joe Rosenlund says this will help improve traffic flow and make it safer for drivers.
"It's basically to eliminate the weaving problem we had there, where people were changing lanes kind of at the last minute, to either to get into one or the other left turn lanes," Rosenlund explained.
Rosenlund says the revision cost the city about $3,000 from their maintenance and operation fund.
