Man arrested on vehicular assault charges, victim in satisfactory condition. The condition of the 9 year old boy hit by a car Monday in Kennewick is satisfactory. He's at Kadlec Regional Medical Center.

The 19 year old suspected of running up on the sidewalk and hitting the boy was arrested for vehicular assault. Kennewick police took Calvin Fox into custody.  Police say Fox has a suspended license and may have been driving under the influence.

The accident happened along 4th and Vancouver near the Sun Mart. The boy was waiting with his parents at the bus stop.

Crime Prevention Specialist Mike Blatman says a Drug Recognition Specialist was brought to the scene to do sobriety tests. "One of the officers that responded at the scene is a DRE expert so based on the information and the test, that officer was able to run at that particular time, they felt that the he was under the influence of alcohol or drugs," said Blatman.

A blood test will determine if the driver was under the influence. Fox was booked into the Benton County Jail on a 72 hour hold while police continue to investigate.
